Traveling Around Chiang Rai Province

Tuk Tuk
     Traveling within Chiang Rai District area is easy with tuk tuk which is available at the stands along main roads. Most hotels also have phone numbers of tuk tuk drivers and can arrange a pick up from your hotel easily.

Rental car / motorcycle
     It may probably be easier to rent a car to travel around Chiang Rai. There are many rental car shops in town as well as at the airport. The popular choice is usually is to hire van (when a group is more than 4 people) with a driver who knows the way around and can suggests good places to eat as well.  The hired van with a driver is available from 8.00 am – 5.00 pm, after which time will require an extra charge. If you enjoy driving, then a rental car and a free map, available at various places, will also get you to most places.

Buses
     There are numerous buses traveling from Chiang Rai Districs to all other districts inexpensively. Buses leave from Chiang Rai station quite often and usually there is no need to book in advance. But during the high season (Nov. – Mar.), it might be wise to buy the ticket ahead of time.
